5 Things You Can Do with RM30 from e-Tunai Rakyat

Here's some ang pow from the government!

As part of Budget 2020, the government gave out RM30 to all Malaysians above 18 years old with an annual income of less than RM100,000. According to Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, the initiative aims to encourage cashless payments among Malaysians. He also said that most Malaysians used the funds given for groceries, transportation and food.

Here’s a list of things you can do to enjoy the RM30!

1. Treat yourself to some ice cream

The weather has been a bit on the hotter side lately, so here’s your excuse to cool down with a cup of ice cream from Baskin-Robbins! For under RM8, you can get a single junior scoop in a cone.

Baskin-Robbins offers a number of delightful flavours for your sweet tooth, including their bestsellers Vanilla, Mint Chocolate Chip and Pralines ‘n Cream.

2. Have lunch by the belt at Sushi King

You may be a regular at other sushi chains, but you can’t deny the effect that Sushi King has on Malaysia’s Japanese food scene. Other than watching the chef slice sashimi or prepare temaki, one of the most exciting things about enjoying sushi is having it off the moving belt.

With RM30, you can savour a bowl of ramen, a few plates of Kani Tobikko and free flow of fresh green tea.

3. Indulge in chocolate goodness at Secret Recipe

Secret Recipe has always been known as the go-to place for cakes for any occasion, be it birthdays, farewells and in some cases, even weddings. Their line of cakes is nothing short of iconic, since most of us millennials grew up with having Chocolate Indulgence served at least once at our friends’ birthday parties.

You may not be able to afford a whole cake with RM30, but we can guarantee you that a plate of New York Cheesecake and a cup of coffee would not blow your budget.

4. Double shot of coffee at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf on a Monday morning

Monday may be everyone’s least favourite day but it is also the start of the week. If you’re working, it is crucial to start your Monday morning right as the blues might affect you the whole day. At The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, where you’re greeted with the bittersweet aroma of coffee and the familiar sound of arabica beans being ground to perfection, you can purchase a cup of double shot coffee under RM20.

You should try the classic Mocha with whipped cream and a bagel with cream cheese!

5. Send a gift to your loved ones

If your partner is the type that’s easily offended and you don’t have time to console his/her fragile heart, why not take a few minutes and get them a box of chocolate or a bouquet of flowers to make their day? One of the e-wallet platforms does provide delivery service, so you can personalize your gifts the way you like it.

Just make sure they’re present at the drop-off location!
